Thank you Fanang Diatla
Phina Mahlatji is een van de kinderen die betrokken is bij Fanang Diatla. Tijdens een van onze projectbezoeken, vertelde zij haar ontroerende verhaal:
“I am the third of six children who have lost both parents. My mother died first and after 3 years my father died as well. Therefore I had to care for my siblings at the age of 12. We were cared by my aging grandmother through her old age pension, but she died as well.
Before my parents died, I cared for them as well as my grandmother. My two elder brothers were unemployed and had to leave school at form four (grade 11).I've always had the ambition of being a nurse, through the experience of caring for my sick parents. It was the most difficult time of being a mother, granny, father and sister all in the same time for my younger brothers.
Fortunately we could rely on the generosity of Fanang Diatla, in supplying us with food parcels.Through the advocacy and intervention of Fanang Diatla I had a chance of going for nurse training at Lebowakgomo Hospital in 2003. I finished my school and eventually was employed at Mathabatha Clinic. Now I have a good job and I'm able to care for and educate my brother. Thank you, Fanang Diatla!”
